Keith Olbermann to Join Current TV

Keith Olbermann, the former MSNBC host will announce his next move today. Olbermann will team up with Al Gore's Current TV. According to The New York Times, Olbermann will get a prime spot in Current TV’s lineup.

Keith Theodore Olbermann is an American political commentator and writer. A former sportscaster and news anchor, Olbermann hosted Countdown with Keith Olbermann, an hour-long nightly commentary program on MSNBC for almost eight years.He was a sports correspondent for CNN and for local TV.He later co-hosted ESPN's SportsCenter.After leaving ESPN amid controversy, Olbermann became a sports anchor and producer for Fox Sports Net.

Olbermann re-joined MSNBC after a hiatus, hosting Countdown with Keith Olbermann from 2003 until 2011. Olbermann will likely bring new energy and attention to the struggling TV channel. In 2009, it laid off 80 employees, about 20% of its staff at the time. Olbermann reportedly received a severance check estimated at $7 million when he was fired by MSNBC.
